Destiny Rescue - new rescue child 2 new girls...
It is always exciting to welcome new girls into our rescue homes.  We recently had 2 new girls arrive in one of our Cambodian Rescue homes. The first girl was only 10 years old and the second 13 years old.

It is hard to imagine what goes through a man or woman's mind to justify selling or abusing a child. I doubt we could ever imagine the terror a child feels as they discover what has happened to them unless we have experienced something similar.

As we have been doing this for a long time now, it is reassuring to know that these kids will have the opportunity to heal... as they experience the unconditional love, counseling and care of our trained staff, they will be able to dream once again.
Thank you for your role in helping these precious kids!

Destiny Rescue - Rescue girl with pig 2 girls leave...
Over the last couple of months we have been able to successfully reintegrate 2 girls (Som and Dah) back with their respective families. Whenever possible we aim to get girls back with their families, back to normal life. Before this can happen our reintegration team investigates exactly what happened to each girl, who was responsible for the sale and/or abuse and determines whether there is any risk if the child was to return home. If the family played no role then our team starts the process of rebuilding the relationship with the child and her family, as well as doing training with the entire village when required.

Som was able to return to her village with a pig purchased by Destiny Rescue. This is one of the ways we help the families to generate some extra income to assist in covering their basic needs long term.

Dah, after being with us for 10 months was able to return to her village. Because of her mental disability, it was a challenge to complete simple daily activities like getting dressed, eating and toileting. It has taken a lot of love from her Girls' Home house family to take care of her, as a team they have done a remarkable job teaching her ways to take care of herself. With Dah's court case being finalised it meant it was safe for her to return to her village. It was so nice to hear her friends talk about the simple things like being able to get dressed and go to the bathroom by herself that she has achieved while being here. She is now happily back in her home village, living with her mother.

Destiny Rescue - Destiny Coffee HouseDestiny Coffee House - going strong...
In a little over 3 months we have seen the Destiny Coffee House continue to grow in popularity with locals and tourists alike. Even though the number of tourists is down from what is normal for this time of the year, we have still been able to operate with a profit - congratulations to Eileen (Cafe manager/trainer) and all the girls working so diligently to make it such a viable training cafe! If you are interested in volunteering in the Destiny Coffee House please read the volunteer opportunities listed below.
